Leadership Through My Lens: Portraits | Reflections | Inspiration

Power. Strength. Inspiration.

These fundamental qualities of leadership are eloquently reflected in nature. The camera lens captures these moments of raw beauty to teach us important personal and professional lessons.

My book, Leadership Through My Lens, combines my two passions in life: leadership and photography. Photography is a common language we all understand. It creates an instant emotional and intellectual connection. Through my photography, I educate, inspire and change the way people think about leadership, growth and success.

My 25+ years working with businesses and senior leaders in emerging and established markets has taken me on assignments around the world. Through the lens of my camera, I have captured the magnificent landscapes and wildlife of the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. In my book, I connect these images with important business and leadership lessons that reinvigorate and impel people to change the way they work.

This book is for:

  • Senior executives struggling to lead effectively.
  • Professionals seeking direction, clarity and motivation.
  • Employees who want to climb the corporate ladder.
  • People who want to feel re-energised about their work and personal lives.

This book will:

  • Change the way you think about leadership.
  • Help you to lead your teams more effectively.
  • Give you clarity on your goals.
  • Inspire you to take control of your career.
Rarely does a single book on leadership encompass so many valuable topics, and does so in manner that does not lecture but rather engages the reader to elicit thoughtful contemplation, but that is what this book achieves!  Inspiring photography activates creative considerations that then seamlessly lead to a leadership element with practical observations and advice.  I definitely recommend this book for people aspiring to continuously hone, refine, and enhance their leadership competencies and improve their results, impact, and legacy.

I am blown away. It is a beautiful book with such wisdom and expressed without all the padding that so many writers want to put in and which makes reading a great labour of boredom. It’s an easy read packed with wisdom. The content is thought provoking and the photographs quite stunning and furthermore very appropriate.

As a leader it is of vital importance to remain current in your views of the world. Finding inspiring ideas is part of building your personal brand. LEADERSHIP THROUGH MY LENS offers interesting information on a variety of topics, mostly linked to the African bush. Anton van der Walt’s writing style is easy to identify with, and each page provides a fresh perspective on work relevant topics. The presented topics are linked to a “catch phrase” which can be used as themes to underpin team commitments. It is very different to the standard leadership development books currently available and a must read to leaders who are serious about personal and team development.

I absolutely love it... mostly that it is very personal, but also a person speaking and not "leader". I love the approach of people leading people and that is the biggest lesson for Leadership I think. It's not a typical high-handed telling approach but rather just planting seeds for thought.... the reader can make with it what they want. You actually give the camera settings, some pointers ito lens speed etc.... but at the end of the day everyone can look at exactly the same thing and take a totally different picture... it's your attitude that really influences what picture you take and your writings gives amazing insight into the right attitude and approach. It is an amazing g piece of work!
